At that moment, Rollon is forced back a few steps. We race the book through to the Circle room where Lillane, Lucio and Merffyn have been awaiting our arrival with everything else prepared. We are ordered out and they perform the ceremony straight away. Afterwards, Lillane instructed us to return the book immediately but only Monaco is able to pass back through the mirror. On the other side, Monaco said afterwards, was the sense of absolutely nothing but what he was standing on and It standing in front him in the dark. Monaco gave him the book politely and was told to pass on greetings from the King In Yellow to Lillane.
The rest of the items seem to disperse before we know it. The Faerie spurs are returned to Mathilde and her knight at the river where we had met them, and Illisander was escorted to safety at the same place. Charon’s Key is returned to him through the Circle. The feather involves some discussion as to how to return it. We can either summon an angel (which Lillane does not want to do, so we’re outvoted), give it to the Templar (but Lillane and Gwyn don’t want to, so once again we’re outvoted before a vote takes place) or place it on the altar in the Castle Chapel.
For want of something better, we chose to leave it there during the day, and see what happens. Thankfully, we don’t find it there the next night. Excalibur had been thrust into the center of the Circle as part of the ritual, and Merffyn says that it should probably stay there for a while. Which now leaves us with nothing to do, as it has all been done. Il-Hamdu Lillah! (Praise Be To God!)
