Involvement
Begins with a reunion party for the past adventure.
Highlights
At the party a glowing sphere materializes and announces that in 8457 humanity is threatened by an enemy who traveled back in time to 1898 and is attempting genetic alterations to the detriment of humanity’s future. The sphere changes to a 5-year-old girl who asks the Party to prepare for a journey to 1898 to destroy the enemy.
After extensive preparations (Angela travelling as Andrew) the Party regroups in Angela’s apartment in Hyde Park. Just as Trixie begins to time warp the Party a large soldier bursts in crying, “where’s the party”. Even though he has the wrong address he goes with the Party to 1898.
Arrive in Austria on Wednesday July 3rd 1899. Assist Sherlock Holmes who is being attacked by the Illyrians. He is investigating the disappearances of scientist colleagues of Dr Freud. They are being kidnapped by Moreau, President of Illyria (a country that shouldn’t exist), and brother of Moriarity. Illyria manufactures advanced weapons (1915 equivalent) and has an import company in Vienna (HQ of the Masters of Midlight according to the surviving attacker).
Illyria is acting as a destabilising influence in Europe, America and other countries. Illyria has no religion, its own money and 1930s weapons and technology. It is working to bring the 1915 flashpoint closer to 1899.
While watching the Illyrian Import Company in Vienna, the Party is followed by Sally van der Linden whose husband was killed by Illyrians who then stole his patents. She joins the Party.
The Party raids the Illyrian Import Company at night. Shipping is actually re-routing of arms labelled machine parts. The Party discovers a gate behind a life-size picture of President Moreau. A foul smell coming from a tunnel running away from a trapdoor in the floor alerts the Party to the presence of ghouls. An actual living beast in the shape of a room is discovered, some terrible form of temple with a black-flaming fire pit and evil paintings of mechanical amoeba. The room growls and the Party realises that Moreau is actually the Machine God, an aspect of Narlethotep (very bad feelings all round). The Party is attacked by and destroys a half-deep one in the temple.
A much-shocked Party returns to the van der Linden household with evidence connecting Moreau to Castle Frankenstein (map references) and the launch of the “Nautilus” submarine. The Party has two heavily drugged scientists and Sally is completely insane. Ellis and Wellington are very badly hurt, Michal and David are injured. Both the scientists and Sally are returned to Dr Freud for treatment.
The next day the Party boarded the train for the Illyrian frontier. The train is attacked by the Bosnian Liberation Army who are chased off by a trainload of Hungarian soldiers following up the line.
The Party arrives at a village near Castle Frankenstein. While scouting the Castle the Party meets a lost “princess” and her offsiders, a German and an Italian. She is not what she seems and has control over wolves and rats. She wants to retrieve her Nanny, a prisoner in the Castle. She also has the ability to summon shamblers (lovely girl).
The Party attacks the castle at night. Dave is very badly hurt and Michael is injured again. Frankenstein, his monster and the guards are dead, the slaves and prisoners are freed. The princess mind transfers into her Nanny, Magda. All in all an interesting experience.
The Party steals a one-man airship from the Castle for spotting. After reading dispatches found in the Castle, the Party found and attacked the submarine “Nautilus” while it was being repaired at a nearby cove. The “Nautilus, the Machine God, Captain Nemo and Mata Hari were all destroyed.
Our GM returned the Party to the site of Angela’s apartment but in the month of May 1925.
Injuries
Hurt when the truck in which she was travelling crashed into a ditch at high speed while rushing to attack the “Nautilus” submarine. Also hurt in the attack against the submarine.
Possessions
Returned to 1925 London with £60,000 of gold from the people who sent the Party back to locate the machine god.
